BCA believes a properly kept uniform is an important aspect of a student’s responsibility. It shows self-respect and regard for one’s self and helps foster school spirit. In addition, a uniform removes all pressures from peers regarding clothing and allows students to focus on school and not their attire.

As a uniform is also a reflection of the BCA and its standards, it is important that our school uniform is worn with pride and kept in a proper state.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the new tie mandatory for boys or can we wear the old one?

Yes, the new tie is mandatory and should be on the mandatory purchase list from Cambridge. The old ties are part of the old uniform and should not be worn this year.

Do girls really have to wear a specific undershirt?

Yes, the BCA Uniform Committee worked very hard to choose an undershirt that would provide appropriate coverage under the white polo while also being comfortable. Girls should wear the required undershirt at all times, but particularly when wearing the white polo alone. If the required undershirt is not worn, students will be directed to the office where they will receive another undershirt, which will subsequently be charged to the parents.

When can we wear the Navy polo?

The navy polo is an optional uniform item for high school students to be worn only after spring break. When wearing the polo, boys are not required to wear a tie.

Do boys have to wear a tie with the high school pull-over option?

While wearing the oxford shirt, boys are required to wear a tie; so if wearing the pull-over with an oxford shirt, boys are required to wear a tie. After spring break, the pull-over can be worn with the navy polo. Ties do not have to be worn with the polo.

Can girls wear ankle socks?

No. Girls must wear knee socks or tights with their uniform all year.

Do shoes have to be completely black? Can they have white/colored soles?

Yes, shoes need to be completely black with no color or logos visible. The soles should be dark grey or black. No colored or white soles are allowed.

Can elementary students just wear cheaper polos from Old Navy?

No. We have a contract with Cambridge uniforms saying that all our uniform items will be purchased through them (except for the PE skirts and girls’ undershirts, which they could not provide). This includes polos.
