Hebrews 11: Hall of Faith–January 2018

Hall Of Faith

In Devotions class, we have been studying Hebrews Chapter 11–the Faith Chapter of the bible.  In this chapter, Paul goes through some of the “faith giants” from the old testament and gives record of their faithfulness.

Together, we revisited some familiar bible characters like Enoch who “was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” And Moses, who “forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.”

We also delved into some Faith Heroes that the students were not so familiar with like Barak–Judges Ch 4.  They loved reading his story in the book of judges; though it must be admitted that they all were more fascinated with Jael and her tent peg than they were with General Barak.  Another unfamiliar character was that of Jephthah (Judges 12) whose story teaches us not to vow rashly.

The students also had some “aha” moments as we put the old testament characters and their stories in chronological order and they made connections between the people.  When we finished going over the story and faithfulness of each person mentioned in Hebrews 11, we decided to make a display to celebrate the faithfulness of each person.  We modeled it after the “Hall of Fame” museums for sports heroes, etc. and called it our HALL OF FAITH.

The students each chose 1 or 2 heroes to study and commenced to write about, research in the bible, and type their work for the display.  They also drew portraits of what they thought the people may have looked like.  The result is something that we are all proud of.  We would like to invite you to visit our HALL OF FAITH and check out the students’ hard work and remind yourself of the bible heroes that were so faithful before us.
