Today, since there are a lot of colds going around, I taught the students about the spreading of germs and how to prevent them from spreading. They did a worksheet in groups about the 2 different types of germs, bacteria and viruses. They learned that there are good and bad bacteria, and that viruses live inside human cells. After the worksheet they all went to the bathroom 1 by 1 and washed their hands with warm water and soap for 20 seconds. When they came back to their desk they were all concerned that their pencils still had germs on them and their desks had germs on them 🙂 I told them I don’t want them to turn into germaphobes, but it is really good to be aware of where their hands have been, if they’ve been washed and not to sneeze into their hands then shake someone else’s hand cause that is how sickness spreads.
